Taste-Tastic! 2017 Taco Libre MGM

Spring in Montgomery, Ala., is a fine time to be outdoors. It’s not too hot yet, and the season’s fresh green leaves against a bluebird sky make for such pretty scenery. Add a gentle breeze and then throw in some cold beer, a few live bands, scores of diverse taco offerings and a couple hundred of your fellow Gump residents (as well as some visitors), and you’ve got a Saturday to get excited about.
Go ahead and get excited, because Taco Libre is coming back on April 29 for its second year, and the event is offering all of the above and more at The Yards a Western Rail, a cool new al fresco venue cozied up to the capital city’s downtown. This food fest will feature tons of tacos, with restaurants from around the state serving fresh tortillas shaped into smiles, packed with a diverse array of fillings, piled high with all kinds of toppings and drizzled, dunked and/or doused in salas, hot sauces, cremas and so much more. There’ll also be gallons of frosty brews to wash down the tacos, from two local breweries, Railyard and Trim Tab, as well as suds from south-of-the-border fave and the event’s signature sponsor, Cerveza Modelo.
And indie bands like Elliot Root and Colony House will be performing too, providing a little background music to blend in with all the crunching, munching and guzzling. Take a moment to peruse the photos here, showcasing last year’s sold out event, and note the fun folks are having. Then get your tickets for this year’s taco good time before they are gone.
